Q:
I don't want to know anything about Care.com because Im already a member and well aware of how much theyve changed their site since I needed them last, and not in a good way! Which leads me to my question... Does anyone who has had bad luck trying to find employment through Care.com found another site to use which is better? I'd really appreciate it, I've been out of work for 4 months and need to seriously find some options.
Got a text message from a private number not being from care, and he asked for me email etc. Should I be cautious with this type of inquiries?

We subscribed to this site for 30 bucks for the year and they have live updates. http://www.caretaker.org/ we found a lot of help when we had a homestead years ago and I got some gigs that were temporary too. Straight up honest folks who own the site and the people posting wanted ads are from all over the world and the USA. Posting your own ad isn't that expensive either. Some offer trade for housesitting and others pay wages. It was worth it for us. Stay away from Care.com no matter what. Check local Domestic Staffing Agencies too.

Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.

Q:
I thought this was free for job seekers? I want to try it before upgrading my profile, but I can't even read the messages I have received so far without being asked for my credit card?
I had the same experience! Couldn't do anything with it until I pay them... i dont' trust online stuff like this with a credit card info anyway and ESPECIALLY when i first run across a site or company and don't know yet if they are truly secure and legit! Big Red Flag. Care.com doesn't care and only wants $$$$$$

Stay away... just closed my account. I had previously been a member since 2012 but hadn't used the service for 3 years... just recently signed back in and was trying to apply for jobs... now it's pay for this, upgrade that, what the hell is going on, it most definitely was not like this before, this has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time... I can't contact or get contacted without one of us paying, what kind of crap is this... I then decided I would just do my bio over and add my email address... nope they blocked my email address out SMH lol this is crazy so I decided to just cancel my account... I had applied to at least 12-15 jobs with no luck... I don't think so because I have over 20years experience, and before when I used it a few years ago before they started all this paying crap I got contacted so much that I actually had to turn jobs down... I'm very qualified and it's sad that care.com only care about making money now days... SMH shame on you care.com... DO BETTER!

We'll care.com USED to be free for job seekers, but now there's a cost? And am not even really sure how the cost actually works.?., it's somewhat twisted, and Purposely deceitful. OK. Don't Quote me, but am gonna take a stab at how I think care. Com works. (1) You apply for a job of your choice for free (2) If family is interested they respond in kind, to set up an interview or ask for more information... about your qualifications. Here comes the twisted borderline Deviant unethical. Part ( 3). Wow OK yeah am interested in speaking /interviewing with you directly too, soooo... you hit SEND & you think your well on your way to being a working girl right?.( 4). But oops! Unfortunately the family will NOT receive your. Excited. YES!... am interested in a interview response ( 5) Here comes this itty bitty sweet LIL note that basically says in laymans terms." Give me your money (UPGRADE)... or ya won't be talking to anyone, darn! Awww! Your gonna miss this FAB job opportunity!, now it's just a cruel joke on you. The Proverbial Dangllng Carrot. We're Nurturing Ladies of the children of the World, and free to make our own decisions at will, so if you decided to give care. Com a try. Approach with caution, but if I we're you I'd find another Carrot!

Q:
Has anyone thought of filing a class action lawsuit against this scam of a company. They don't help working families, but rather steal their money.
Apparently there have been several class action suits against care.com. Just search and you will find a few. Something needs to be done about this company. You would think FCC would do something about this considering Care.com continues to misrepresent their products. Here is one suit that happened in 2020. Wish I would have known about this beforehand. https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2020/07/14/care-com-settles-lawsuit-claiming-it-misrepresented-background-checks-auto-renewed-subscriptions/

Very interested here as well. Had my account permanently closed for no reason after years of hard work with special needs children and great reviews. They have a way to much power and only care about collecting money. Destroying peoples lives and careers every single day.

I definitely want to file a class action against Care.com. My daughter and I were supposed to get paid but they closed my account without any investigation at all. Took the person's word for it; whatever they may have said. Now we are down 2 months pay. Please contact me. I have been doing this for years.

As long as there are unemployed girls that desperately need a job care.com will keep luring girls into their website, get them to spend the only money they have in hopes of landing a job, they could have 13 positions available most of them bad jobs that nobody wants and 700 hundred girls applying for the same position, they count on more and more girls siging up and they keep getting rich.

Probably, but may be fairly difficult to prove. I believe there are numerous questionable/bad websites out there prepared to take your money. The last email i received from them I reported as spam.

Q:
Do I have to pay to get a job offer. Never a response but one scam
No. The people needing help pay a fee. BUT, if you get accused of anything, Care.com will believe the client above the police and not only drop you, but spread the lies to others. Get yourself some business cards ( Vistaprint.com ) and pass then out. Good luck!

At first, Care.com wanted me to pay a membership fee & I was looking to employ a house cleaner. Didn't & just left the site. Somehow my request got transferred to a site called Thumbtack.com. No fee to join, but also no house cleaner that would show up. Twice this happened as I thought maybe first no show was a fluke,(they had a flat tire & it had to be special ordered? Yeah, right) but second one called morning of cleaning day, crying & having a domestic dispute. Be careful.

My daughter received two attempted scam requests but then she did receive on legit baby sitting job without paying fees for care.com but using the basics. You just have to be patient and a bit lucky I think. I really do not think much of care.com site. They do no not seem to care about warning their customers of the many many scams that seem to happen daily on the site. I asked her to take her information off the site
